See the comment on the Home Page regarding why Peter "Wolf" Toth has chosen San Antonio as the location to replace the only Texas Sculpture. Here are some additional comments regarding that decision. During our USA Bicentenial San Antonio was declared to be one of the 4 Unique Cities of this Nation. It is in the center of the State, the Heart of Texas with the Alamo, the Spanish Missions, the River Walk, its Sports activities, the Alamo Dome, its rich Hispanic heritage, and friendliness. Millions come visit San Antonio every year to enjoy its many treasures. It is our intent to give them one more reason! The plan is to put together an organization of patrons to put this plan into action and fund this project. As always, his efforts and Sculpture artistry will be a gift to the Tribes to honor their history and heritage. As the Spanish explorers moved into what is now known as Texas, they met the indigenoius peoples living there. These were a variety of Native American Indian Tribes who came to be known under the Spanish leaders as the Coahuiltecan Nation. It was from these indigenous peoples who provided the manpower and labor to build the Alamo and the 4 Missions that remain today. They learned trades, and came to know new technologies. Little is recorded in Texas history regarding the fact that it was the Coahuiltecan peoples of the past who were instrumental in the building of what we revere today. The Alamo and our 4 historic Spanish Missions, the latter which still conduct Church services and other activities to the people of San Antonio today! It is to the Coahuiltecan peoples of the past and present that we intend to honor their contributions to Texas. Also the 3 recognized Tribes in Texas, the Alabama-Coushatta Tribes, Kickapoo Tribe, and the Tigua Indians-Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo. In addition, we will honor the descendents of some 2 dozen or more Native American Indian Tribes who have lived in Texas and many are still living here today. Currently Peter Toth resides in Edgewater, Florida, where he has a studio. At times he receives requests from cities or Tribes who have his sculptures to repair or replace "Whispering Giants" that has been damaged by the elements over the years.
